Jason’s practice involves complex commercial litigation, focusing on representation of domestic and foreign businesses, financial institutions and investment companies in courts and non-judicial forums. His practice includes litigation involving intellectual property, bankruptcy matters, securities, antitrust issues, contract disputes and business tort claims.

Jason brings substantial trial experience to the clients of Andrews Kurth. He has personally taken over twenty trials to verdict, with the majority before a jury.

  • Representation of a family of investment funds in a $100+ million dispute regarding a failed roll-up strategy and the eventual bankruptcy of acquisition targets
  • Representation of an international financial services company in litigation involving a fraudulent, multibillion-dollar investment scheme
  • Representation of three national banks in patent infringement litigation over check imaging technology (Eastern District of Texas)
  • Representation of a banking and financial services company in certificate-holder litigation involving its role as trustee for commercial mortgage-backed securities trusts; successfully obtained summary judgment
  • Representation of a media company in patent infringement litigation regarding integrated inventory management systems for radio stations (Eastern District of Texas)
  • Representation of an independent refining company in connection with antitrust litigation over the $1.5 billion acquisition of a refining and petroleum marketing company

Captain, U.S. Army (1999-2007)

In March 2003, Jason was called upon to deploy with the U.S. Army as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served in Sadr City/Baghdad from April 2003 to March 2004 as the International Law Officer for the Civil Affairs battalion charged with rebuilding the infrastructure, courts and government of Iraq. His focus included the establishment and training of district councils, the assessment and repair of the judicial system, and training Iraqi security forces in human rights and international law.
