John's practice focus is on intellectual property litigation and counseling, including trademark registration and inter partes proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He generally advises clients on trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition and other intellectual property matters. John has special strength in disputes relating to computers and the Internet, including domain name disputes, online defamation and invasion of privacy issues.
His experience also includes litigation involving commercial transactions and liability of professionals, as well as general business. In addition to representation of clients before state and federal trial courts and administrative agencies, John's litigation practice has included numerous appellate matters, particularly in appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and appeals to federal district and circuit courts under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
