Leasa is an Associate in the Litigation section of the Washington, D.C. office. Her practice focuses on Corporate Compliance, Investigations and Defense matters.
Leasa previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Henry E. Hudson of the United States District Court, Eastern District of Virginia. Leasa also served as a summer clerk to the Honorable Gerald Bruce Lee of the United States District Court, Eastern District of Virginia.
Representative Experience
- Conducted client interviews and represented client during interviews with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in criminal investigation alleging wire fraud
- Drafted sentencing memoranda in wire fraud, Act to Prevent Pollution From Ships, and obstruction of justice cases
- Represented client at sentencing hearing before the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and achieved favorable result by avoiding any period of incarceration
- Analyzed and created detailed summary of transactions to assist a Fortune 100 company’s internal investigation of allegations of Foreign Corrupt Practices Action violations by one of its foreign subsidiaries
- Revised Foreign Corrupt Practices Act compliance program for foreign subsidiary of the Fortune 100 company
- Interviewed whistle-blower in preparation for an anti-kickback and off-label promotion investigation
- Served as second chair during breach of contract trial and managed all phases of litigation
- Drafted motions and pleadings for matters involving business conspiracy, fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, trademark infringement, medical malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, and attorney malpractice
- Successfully briefed and argued pretrial motions, including motions to dismiss and a motion to transfer venue
- Conducted and defended depositions in breach of construction contract, unjust enrichment, and medical malpractice litigation, including preparation of party deponents and witnesses
- Participated in all phases of discovery for complex commercial and intellectual property cases, including the supervision of extensive document review and collection efforts for a trademark infringement matter
