Linda Stahl is a litigation partner practicing complex commercial litigation, a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and the Pro Bono Coordinator for the Dallas Office.

Linda handles a wide variety of complex commercial disputes, including intellectual property matters, oil and gas related litigation, fiduciary duty claims and enforcement of financial instruments.

The clients Linda represents include financial institutions, energy producers and internet companies. Through her successful representation of loan sellers, servicers and trustees of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) trusts, she understands the industry from the perspective of all the major CMBS players. She has developed specialties in the areas of asset-backed securities, noncompetition and confidentiality agreements, and mineral rights.

Representative Experience

  • Successfully defended CMBS trustee against fiduciary duty and related claims brought by an investor, obtaining summary judgment dismissing all claims
  • Successfully tried first post-9/11 lawsuit confirming lenders’ rights to require borrowers to maintain insurance against acts of terrorism for properties securing loans included within a CMBS pool 
  • Defeated attempt by surface owner to enjoin drilling by oil and gas operator based on the accommodation doctrine and deed restrictions
  • Represented multibillion-dollar foreign telecommunications company in trade secrets misappropriation case, including appeals to two federal courts of appeal, settling on favorable terms
  • Regularly provides employment consultation and litigation avoidance counsel to publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production company
