
Peter Ripley
Associate
Peter is an Associate in the Energy section of the Washington, D.C. office. His practice focuses on both regulatory and corporate matters.
Prior to joining Andrews Kurth, Peter worked as an Attorney Advisor at the Office of Administrative Law Judges of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (“FERC”). In this capacity, he worked on over 30 hearing and settlement proceedings involving a variety of issues under the Federal Power Act, Natural Gas Act and Interstate Commerce Act. The issues included market power manipulation in wholesale electricity markets, market-based rates, development of wholesale electricity market rules, formula rate issues related to Investor-Owned Utilities and cost-of-service ratemaking issues related to natural gas and oil pipelines. Prior to joining FERC, Peter worked as a Summer Associate at a law firm in Johannesburg, South Africa. As a Summer Associate, he assisted with the drafting of shareholder agreements, sale of shares agreements, agency agreements, and articles of incorporation related to energy projects in South Africa.
