Peter is the Managing Partner of the London office. He advises oil and gas companies worldwide on upstream and midstream transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, project development, LNG project work and operational procurement and contracting.

A former chairman of the International Bar Association’s Oil and Gas Law Committee, Peter has authored three leading industry textbooks (Gas Sales and Gas Transportation Agreements (Sweet & Maxwell, 2011); Joint Operating Agreements (Globe, 2012); English Law and Petroleum Contracts (OUP, 2013) and has contributed to several other books. He edits the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) Journal of World Energy Law and Business and is a representative on oil and gas law faculty bodies at Qatar University and at Dundee University. 

Peter was recently recognized in the 2013 “Hot 100” by The Lawyer and is ranked highly by Chambers and Partners and the Legal 500 directories. He was previously the General Counsel for Centrica Energy, in London, and has worked for other leading international law firms in London, Hong Kong and Singapore.

  • Represented Angola LNG Marketing Ltd on the sales programme for redirected LNG production (2010-2013)
  • Represented a confidential client on the purchase of Shah Deniz 2 gas volumes and associated gas pipeline evacuation (2013)
  • Represented Petra Energia SA on the sale of onshore Solimoes, Brazil acreage to TNK BP (2010-2011)
  • Represented a confidential client on joint study and bid arrangements for the 11th Brazilian licensing round (2013)
  • Represented Rockhopper Exploration on upstream acquisitions, divestments and project development in the Falkland Islands (2010-2013)
  • Represented Tullow Oil on the sale of associated gas from the Jubilee field in Ghana, including infrastructure tie-ins (2011-2013)
  • Represented a confidential client on Indonesian gas swap arrangements (2013)
  • Represented Sempra on LNG purchase commitment terms (2012)
  • Represented a confidential client on farming in to the Leviathan gas project in Israel (2013)
  • Represented Mitsui on the purchase of Total’s interests in the Tempa Rossa oil field project (2012-2013)
  • Represented Klaipedos Nafta on FSRU and LNG import arrangements in Lithuania (2011-2013)
  • Represented a confidential client in the development of an LNG bulk break terminal in Malaysia (2012-2013)
  • Represented a confidential client on equity participation in and LNG sales from the Brass LNG export project (2010-2013)
  • Represented a confidential client on development of an LNG bulk break terminal in the Baltic (2013)
  • Represented Mitsui on the acquisition of BP’s Alba/Britannia field interests (2012)
  • Represented JX Nippon Oil and Gas Exploration on its acquisition of Eni's entire participating interest in 52 licenses and infrastructure assets in the UK continental shelf (2012-2013)
  • Represented a confidential client on investment into a Polish shale gas project (2011-2012)
  • Represented Centrica on the acquisition of Venture Production plc (2009-2010)
  • Represented TNK-BP on the commercialisation of gas from the Kovykta field in Russia (2004-2006)
  • Represented BP/CNOOC on development and financing of the Guangdong LNG import terminal in China (2001-2003)
  • Represented Premier Oil on the West Natuna gas sales and pipeline transportation project (1997-1999)
  • Represented Petronas/SPC/Talisman/ConocoPhillips on the acquisition and development of the South (Trans) Sumatra and Sumatra/Batam gas pipelines (2000-2002)
