November 21, 2007New York, New York
NEW YORK – Andrews Kurth’s New York Deputy Managing Partner Lynne Fischman Uniman announced today that the firm will donate $10,000 to City Harvest on behalf of the firm’s clients and in recognition of the charity’s ongoing efforts to help hungry individuals and families throughout New York City. The office will also provide turkeys collected during its two week food drive along with the financial contribution.
“We are very pleased that we were able to make this donation to City Harvest for the third year in a row,” Uniman said. “The organization does a great job of providing food to thousands of hungry individuals and families in New York City, and we are proud to be part of that effort.”
With the help of more than 35,000 donors, City Harvest will distribute a total of over 20 million pounds of food this year. Once rescued, food is delivered to soup kitchens and food pantries, homeless shelters, AIDS care providers, senior centers and children’s day care centers that serve hungry people in all five boroughs.
Office Administrator Tina Opoku led the food drive which resulted in the donation of a total of 30 turkeys.
“We had a great general effort from everyone in the office,” said Opoku. “And it is especially gratifying to know that it’s going for such a wonderful cause.”
“We are thrilled Andrews Kurth has continued to support City Harvest and our mission for the third year in a row,” said Pat Barrick, City Harvest’s Vice President of External Relations. “Because of the firm’s generosity, City Harvest will be able to deliver over 41,000 pounds of food directly to hungry New Yorkers this holiday season.”
