Houston, Texas

HOUSTON - Andrews Kurth is pleased to announce that the firm’s Director of Professional Development Amy Hancock was recently named to the board of directors of NALP – The Association for Legal Career Professionals. Hancock assumed her role on April 1 and will serve a one-year term, assisting in formulating policies, financial management and long-range planning, among other duties.

As stated on the organization’s website, “NALP’s membership includes virtually every ABA-approved law school in the United States, Canadian law schools and hundreds of legal employers from both the public and private sectors. NALP is dedicated to facilitating legal career counseling and planning, recruitment and retention, and the professional development of law students and lawyers.”

“Amy is a born leader and a perfect choice to help move the NALP mission forward,” said Bob Jewell, Andrews Kurth Managing Partner. “Amy has been the major force behind our firm’s professional development successes, and I’m sure she will bring the same energy and skill to her role with NALP.”

Law firms can benefit from having a key leader on the board because it opens access to an extensive network of industry contacts as well as information on industry trends in the broader legal recruiting and development field and related industries.

“I’m honored to be joining my colleagues on the NALP board,” said Hancock. “The organization has made such a positive difference in my career, and now I have the opportunity to give something back.”

Hancock’s background includes roles as Manager and Director of Professional Development at two Texas-based international law firms, Director of Admissions and Career Counselor/Placement Coordinator at The University of Texas School of Law, and Associate Director of Attorney Recruiting for a national legal placement firm based in Houston. She received her J.D. in 1997 from The University of Texas School of Law where she was a member of the Order of the Barristers. Hancock received a B.A. in 1994, high honors/special honors in humanities, from The University of Texas.
