Andrews & Kurth's Dallas Office Continues to Expand with Addition of Three Partners

May 6, 2002

HOUSTON -- Andrews & Kurth continues to expand the depth and experience of its Dallas office as it was announced today that three partners have joined the firm. Dean Ferguson joins the firm’s bankruptcy practice while Bob Griffo and David Petruska join the public law practice.

A graduate of the University of Virginia, Ferguson brings more than 15 years experience in all areas of business reorganization, including bankruptcy litigation, workouts and restructuring transactions. In addition, he has worked with representing parties in connection with the purchase or sale of assets from bankruptcy estates.

“Dean is a great addition to our bankruptcy staff,” says Kathleen Wu, managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office. “Dean has come to us having worked for large firms here in Dallas. His experience in this market and nationally is a great boost not only to this practice area but also the firm overall.”

In the field of public law, Griffo provides many years of experience working with financial institutions, corporate debt and bond issues. He has served as bond counsel, special tax counsel, issuer’s counsel and trustee’s counsel with respect to bonds issued in 15 states and has participated in financings for some of the largest cities counties, school districts and airports across Texas.

Petruska most recently served as the head of the Public Law/Public Finance practice group at Winstead, Sechrest and Minick, P.C. In that capacity, he was involved with the public finance practice of all the firm offices and has transactional experience involving financial institutions, corporate debt and tax-exempt bonds. As part of his practice, Petruska has represented college districts, hospital districts and hospital authorities in addition to housing authorities, industrial development corporations and utility districts.

“Bob and David are very strong additions to the firm,” said Wu. “We have a very strong public law practice in our Dallas, Houston and Austin offices that was only strengthened with our most recent merger with Mayor, Day, Caldwell & Keeton. The experience they bring with them to our Dallas office will allow us to expand our public law practice and continue to meet the needs of our clients.”

Andrews & Kurth L.L.P. was founded in Houston in 1902 and today has 365 lawyers in offices in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, London, New York, The Woodlands and Washington D.C.
