Andrews & Kurth Adds New Associates

HOUSTON -- Andrews & Kurth L.L.P. has further expanded its corporate and securities, litigation, business transactions, public law and bankruptcy practices with the addition of 17 new lawyers in four offices.

Richard Monk, Scott Tallman, Brett Brasher, Tri Nguyen, Asmara Tekle and Lannas Barfield have joined the corporate and securities practice in the firm’s Houston office. Monk is a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center and received his political science degree in 1994 from Emory University. Tallman is also a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, cum laude, and received his B.S., cum laude, from West Virginia University in 1998. Brasher, also a 2001 University of Houston Law Center graduate, received his B.A. from Baylor University in 1996. Nguyen is a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center and received his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University Houston in 1997.

Tekle is a 2000 graduate of Cornell law School and received her A.B. in Government from Harvard University in 1995. Barfield is a 2001 graduate from Washington & Lee University School of Law and received his B.B.A. from The University of Texas in 1997.

Kelly Spragins, Basil Umari, Christopher Seufert, Timothy McConn, Scott James, Kevin Hardman, Janet Guggemos, Mayson Mead and Dana Blake have joined the firm’s litigation practice in the Houston office and Gia Cribbs has joined the practice in the firm’s Washington D.C. office. Spragins is a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, cum laude, and received her political science degree from Mercer University in 1998. Umari graduate with honors in 2000 from The University of Texas School of Law, and received his philosophy and mathematics degree in 1997 from Amherst College. Before joining Andrews & Kurth, Umari served as a briefing attorney to U.S. District Judge Samuel B. Kent in the Southern District of Texas, Galveston Division before joining Andrews & Kurth.

Seufert is a 2001 graduate of Duke University School of Law and received his B.A., cum laude, in 1997 from Macalester College. McConn graduated with honors in 2001 from The University of Texas School of Law and a 1998 graduate, magna cum laude, of the University of Notre Dame. James is a 2001 graduate of The University of Texas and a 1998 graduate, magna cum laude, of Louisiana State University. Hardman is a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, received his M.B.A. at Wright State University in marketing and health care administration in 1995, and his physics degree from Howard University in 1999. Guggemos is a 2001 Yale Law School graduate and received her political science degree from the University of California in 1997. Mead is a 2001 University of Houston Law Center graduate and she received her political science degree from the University of Houston in 1991. Blake is a 2001 graduate of the University of San Diego and a 1997 graduate of the University of Michigan. Cribbs is a 2001 graduate of George Washington University School of Law and a 1998 graduate of the University of Maryland.

Lisa Dell’Osso, William Dillard and Ginnie Keller joined the business transactions practice in the firm’s Houston office, and Thane Huggs and Greta Goldsby joined the business transactions practice in the Dallas office. Dell’Osso is a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center and a 1996 political science graduate of Vanderbilt University. Dillard is also a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center and a 1997 Howard Payne University graduate. Keller, also a 2001 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, received her political science degree from Trinity University in 1995. Huggs is a 2001 graduate of Southern Methodist University School of Law and a 1998 business graduate of Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Goldsby is also a 2001 Southern Methodist University Law School graduate and is a 1998 graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Joining the firm’s public law practice in the Houston office are Laura Hanley and Travis Farr. Hanley is a 2000 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center, summa cum laude, and is a 1996, summa cum laude, graduate of the University of Memphis. Before joining Andrews & Kurth, she clerked with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit Chief Judge Carolyn Dineen King. Farr is a 2001 graduate, with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law and is a 1995 graduate of Stanford University.

Joining the firm’s bankruptcy practice in the Dallas office is James Carter, a 2001 Texas Tech University School of Law graduate and a 1997 English major of Stephen F. Austin. Joining the bankruptcy practice in the firm’s Houston office is Chasless Yancy-Hunter, a 2001 graduate of Columbia University School of Law and a 1998 political science major, summa cum laude, from the University of St. Thomas. Lisa Pittsburg has joined the bankruptcy practice in the New York office. She is a 2000 graduate of Brooklyn Law School and a 1995 graduate of University of Rochester.
