Andrews Kurth Attorney Doris Rodríguez to Co-Chair Minority Opportunities Committee of Houston Bar

HOUSTON – Andrews Kurth Partner Doris Rodríguez is one of three attorneys that will co-chair the Minority Opportunities in the Legal Profession Committee of the Houston Bar Association during the 2007-2008 period, the organization’s September bulletin reported.

The committee promotes equal opportunities for minority lawyers in the legal profession and in the Houston Bar Association by developing and sponsoring educational programs and service projects.

“I’m looking forward to helping lead the Committee during this session,” said Rodríguez, a member of the firm’s International Practice group. “As a woman and a member of a minority group, I consider that I have a valuable perspective that will benefit our committee members as well as our other stakeholders.”

After beginning her legal career in 1980, Rodríguez was recognized as one of the first women Hispanic partners at a major Houston law firm in 1988. Rodriguez was later profiled in a Houston Chronicle feature article about up and coming Hispanic lawyers in Houston, highlighting her outstanding work ethic and status as an Andrews Kurth partner. In 2004, she received the Outstanding Women of Achievement in Law & Government award from the Houston YWCA. Earlier this year, Rodríguez was named to the 17-member board of the Texas Diversity Council, an organization that promotes diversity in the workplace and the community. Additionally, she has received the Senior Executive Award from the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Houston and was honored in the State of Texas’ Sesquicentennial Celebration as an Hispanic Woman in the Law.

Rodríguez’s law practice focuses on a broad range of domestic and international corporate and finance transactions, particularly involving Latin American companies and projects, including acquisitions, dispositions, project finance and other structured finance and traditional financing transactions.
