March 16, 2009
Houston, Texas

(HOUSTON) -  Andrews Kurth is pleased to announce that Marty Smith DeBusk, an Andrews Kurth Partner, was recently named to the National Advisory Board of The NALP Foundation.

Ms. Smith DeBusk joined this select group of respected legal professionals on January 8, 2009 and will serve a two-year term on the board which provides advice and counsel to The NALP Foundation’s President/CEO and its Board of Trustees.
The mission of The NALP Foundation for Law Career Research and Education is to improve the quality and delivery of legal services by advancing:

  • excellence in strategic and practical organizational leadership
  • effective management of legal personnel
  • professional development of lawyers
  • access to and diversity within the profession
  • ethical practices and professionalism

“Marty is the perfect choice for the National Advisory Board,” said Bob Jewell, Andrews Kurth Managing Partner. “She has been a valuable asset to our firm’s professional development team, and I’m sure she will bring the same skill and enthusiasm to her role with The NALP Foundation.”

Law firms can benefit from having a key leader on the board because it opens access to an extensive network of industry contacts as well as information on industry trends in the broader legal recruiting and development field and related industries.

“I’m honored to be joining The NALP Foundation National Advisory Board,” said Smith DeBusk. “The organization has such a positive mission, and now I have the opportunity to help move that mission forward.”

Ms. Smith DeBusk is a partner in the Business Transactions group with focus in the Banking and Finance, Real Estate and Energy industries. She received her J.D. in 1993 from The University of Texas School of Law and received a B.A. in 1990, cum laude, from Washington and Lee University.
