Andrews Kurth Partner Elected as Chair of the Houston Bar Foundation
(Houston, TX)—Kent W. (Rocky) Robinson, partner in the litigation group at Andrews Kurth LLP, took office January 13 as the new Chair of the Houston Bar Foundation. He will serve a one-year term.
The Houston Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the 11,500 member Houston Bar Association. The Foundation focuses on providing funding to the greater Houston area for pro bono legal services to the economically disadvantaged and other needy individuals. The Foundation also provides assistance on a more limited basis to members of the legal community.
Prior to being elected Chair, Robinson served on the Foundation board for two years. He served as President of the Houston Bar Association (HBA) from 2004-2005. Robinson also chaired the Houston Lawyer Referral Service and served on the HBA Judicial Polls Committee, the State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee and the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors. Robinson is a Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He received his MBA from the Cox School of Business and his law degree from the Dedman School of Law, both at Southern Methodist University.

Established in 1982, the Houston Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Houston Bar Association, providing grants for a number of community programs, including the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program (HVLP) and the Juvenile Justice Mock Trial Program. HVLP provides pro bono legal assistance in civil matters to Harris County residents who could not otherwise afford legal representation. The Mock Trial Program provides young teens with a firsthand look at the legal system through classroom instruction and the presentation of mock trials in real Harris County courtrooms.
