Andrews Kurth Scholarship in the Memory of Dr. Fei-Fei Chao
(Houston, Texas)—Andrews Kurth announces the creation of the Andrews Kurth Scholarships in the memory of Dr. Fei-Fei Chao. The scholarships will be endowed in the Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property at National Chengchi University (NCCU) in Taipei City, Taiwan.
Starting in the 2010-2011 academic year, scholarships will be awarded to students in the Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property who have distinguished themselves academically as determined by the Director of the Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property at NCCU.
Andrews Kurth and the Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property will discuss providing internship opportunities for certain Scholarship recipients to work in the offices of Andrews Kurth and will also discuss other ways to develop and further their relationship, such as workshops, seminars and other suitable initiatives.
A signing ceremony with respect to the creation of the Scholarships will be held at National Chengchi University on June 8 at 10:00 am in the Business School Building, Second Conference Room on the 8th floor, Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property.
About Dr. Fei-Fei Chao
Dr. Fei-Fei Chao (1955-2009) was a partner in the Washington, DC office of Andrews Kurth from 2006 to 2009. After completing her undergraduate and Masters of Science degrees in Botany and Microbiology, respectively, at National Chung-Hsing University, she earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from The University of Oklahoma in the United States. In 1996, Dr. Chao earned her J.D. at the University of Maryland School of Law.
Dr. Chao was an extraordinary scientist and lawyer. She was extremely dedicated and loyal to her clients and her firm. Andrews Kurth believes that creating scholarship opportunities for students in the Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property is a fitting way to honor the memory of its distinguished and greatly missed partner.
