Andrews Kurth Advises Inter-American Development Bank on Loan to Mexican Bank
(Washington, DC)—On March 17, 2010, the Inter-American Development Bank (“IDB”) closed on the financing for an unsecured $20 million bank-to-bank loan to one of Mexico’s largest banks, BBVA Bancomer, S.A. (part of Grupo Financiero BBVA Bancomer).
The IDB-funded loan is part of the IDB’s “green line” program that makes financing available for environmentally sustainable purposes. The proceeds of the loan will be used for sustainable and eco- and energy-efficient design, construction and adaptation of the borrower’s headquarters and regional branches in Mexico. The loan was disbursed on July 15, 2010.
The U.S. based firm of Andrews Kurth LLP and the Mexican law firm of Galicia Abogados, S.C. advised the IDB on the financing.
