Jerry L. Beane and Jason S. Brookner named Best Business Lawyers

(DALLAS) - Andrews Kurth LLP partners Jerry L. Beane and Jason S. Brookner have been named as D Magazines “Best Business Lawyers in Dallas.”

To compile the listing of the city's top attorneys for businesses, D Magazine editors conducted a citywide poll asking Dallas lawyers to nominate their peers whose work they most admire. A panel of lawyers then joined the magazine's Executive Editor in finalizing the list of Dallas' top business attorneys.

Beane, who was recognized in two categories, White Collar Defense and Antitrust, focuses his practice on antitrust and commercial litigation. He has more than 41 years of experience defending federal and state antitrust cases and governmental investigations in banking, construction, energy, explosives, food, beverage, health care, home furnishings, insurance, logistics and transportation industries. He has also defended patent, trademark, securities, contract and breach of fiduciary duty cases. Beane’s antitrust representation includes work with mergers in the energy, food, health care, transportation, manufacturing and telecommunications industries. He counsels clients on distribution, Hart-Scott Rodino, joint venture, pricing, price-determination, trade association and compliance program issues.

Beane earned his J.D. in 1967 from Baylor University Law School where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Baylor Law Review and President of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. He received his B.A. in 1965 from Baylor University.

Brookner, who was recognized in the Bankruptcy/Workout category, focuses his practice on transactional, restructuring and litigation matters, both in and out of court. Brookner has broad experience representing debtors, trustees, committees, individual creditors and sellers/purchasers of assets.

Brookner received his J.D. in 1994 from Hofstra University School of Law where he was Articles Editor of the Hofstra Property Law Journal. He was a judicial clerk to the Honorable Charles N. Clevert, Jr. Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin from 1994 to 1996. He earned his B.A. in 1991 from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

The 2009 "Best Business Lawyers in Dallas" list appears in the July issue of D Magazine, and is available on the publication's Web site, www.dmagazine.com, throughout the year.
