Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to announce that the firm was recognized with the Outstanding Pro Bono Service award from Catholic Charities at the organization’s Immigration Legal Services (ILS) annual awards event in Washington, DC on May 2.

For more than 15 years, firm volunteers have interviewed immigrant victims of domestic violence at the Montgomery County Family Justice Center in Rockville, Maryland, to determine which cases are eligible for U visas or green cards under the Violence Against Women Act. ILS has placed more than 300 of those cases with pro bono attorneys in its network. The firm also trains, mentors and schedules all volunteers – some of whom work at other law firms and in the legal departments of the firm’s clients – and maintains shared resources, including intake calendars, intake reports and training materials.

“[Hunton Andrews Kurth] has been a lighthouse for those in need and a most valued partner for our team….This work would be virtually impossible without your generous help,” said Jim Malloy, president and CEO for Catholic Charities.

Hunton Andrews Kurth is proud of its community service and leadership among law firms in the United States, where the firm’s tradition of pro bono service is well recognized. The firm encourages individual dedication to providing legal representation to those in need within our communities, whether it is through local projects or partnerships with clients. For 15 consecutive years, the firm has achieved 100% full-time U.S. lawyer participation in pro bono projects, and in the most recent fiscal year contributed more than 51,500 pro bono hours globally.
