Walt’s practice focuses on patent infringement litigation, as well as broad-based intellectual property litigation and counseling experience. He acts as lead counsel for clients in patent infringement suits involving a variety of complex technologies. Walt has appeared in federal courts around the country and has argued several cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Walt also counsels and assists clients on issues relating to the validity, enforceability and infringement of intellectual property rights, and on the procurement and transfer of intellectual property. He has also represented both requestors and patent owners in numerous ex parte and inter partes patent reexamination proceedings, and petitioners in inter partes review proceedings. 

Walt has been recognized by The Legal 500 United States in the area of IP–Patent Litigation: Full Coverage (2013) and Patents: Prosecution (2017). He is active in bar association work, especially the New York Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, where he is President, a member of the board of directors, and past chair of the committee on alternative dispute resolution. Walt is a frequent speaker on topics relating to intellectual property litigation and has served as an arbitrator and neutral evaluator in patent disputes.
